On Friday, Feb. 3 in Detroit, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, alongside Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II, Speaker of the House Joe Tate, Senator Erika Geiss, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, and non-profit and business leaders, signed an executive directive to increase the number of contracts the state holds with Geographically Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (GDBE). GDBEs include Michigan firms owned and operated by people of color, women, and businesses located in underserved areas like small towns and inner cities.
In her first week in office, Governor Whitmer signed an executive directive to establish the GDBE program. As part of the governor's first actions during her second term, the state will increase its goal for contracting with GDBEs.
In response to Governor Whitmer's executive directive to increase the number of contracts with GDBE's, PMBC will host a webinar: Doing Business with the State of Michigan. This webinar will feature procurement specialists from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget's Office and APEX Accelerators (Formerly PTAC's).
