To reduce barriers and foster a truly inclusive outdoors, Michigan’s Outdoor Industry Office supports Michigan outdoor companies and brands in providing additional career pathways and financial opportunities for more Michiganders. Building on this idea, the Michigan Outdoor Industry worked with Alice Jasper and Mariano Avila, creators of the PBS/WGVU television pilot, “Color Out Here,” and Ted Velie, creator of Michigan House, to host an online conversation with Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist. Out of this effort, several new initiatives related to fostering mentorships programs and other opportunities are being developed.
